Nina and I moved house in 2005… partly a brave experiment, partly to get away from the hustle and bustle of living on the peripheries of a sprawling metropolis. We moved to the rolling Chiltern hills in Buckinghamshire to a little farm-workers cottage with real fuel heating, surrounded by fields and a view to die for.
I was hoping that this move would inspire some kind of creativity and in some respects it did – I produced some good music out there. But for one reason or another it didn’t really work out, so we moved back to the sanctuary of Harrow on the Hill, where, having built a ‘proper’ new studio away from the house, I penned the majority of tracks that appear on this release.
Most were written throughout 2007, some more polished than others; I feel as though my production techniques are now honed sufficiently enough to describe my music as having ‘a sound'; these values are imbued throughout this digital release.
Some of these tracks are pieces that didn’t make the cut from the 2009 LP ‘Get Lost’ on Big Chill Recordings. Ed Richardson plays guitar on the live improvisations ‘DreamState’ and ‘Never Return’.
