Keen followers of my work will already know that back in early 2015, I launched a kickstarter campaign to facilitate the funding of a digital, CD and most importantly, vinyl release of a collection of new material.
The whole idea came about from Jon Tye and Pete Fowler’s Seahawks audio visual arts project. I’m a big admirer of their music and have bought pretty much everything that they’ve done to date. Basically, their philosophy is to release small runs of vinyl and CD of their work together which targets a a niche, yet loyal fanbase.
I launched my project using PledgeMusic in a typically lackadaisical kind of way. In all honesty I wasn’t expecting it to reach target. To those of you who don’t know much about it, producing a vinyl release of one’s work isn’t cheap by any standards – I needed to raise the not-insignificant sum of £1600 to just about cover my costs.
To my genuine astonishment, I hit target within 25 days of the launch date. To say I was overwhelmed is something of an understatement. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came on board and helped fund this all once again. Genuinely chuffed.
In terms of aural content, the CD and vinyl copies differ – obviously one can fit more music onto a CD, so there are a few extra tracks on the CD that aren’t on the vinyl. There is however, an exclusive track on the vinyl in the shape of ‘Sudetenland’.
Either way, this material is a reasonable representation of what I’ve been working on between 2012 and 2015.
